Why Store Hours Vary So Much
The 23 US stores split into two kinds and the split explains almost every difference in the table above. Street locations set their own hours around local footfall. Mall units are bound by the mall's own trading agreement and cannot open earlier or close later than the building does.
Grand Street in Manhattan Chinatown is a street store and runs to 12:00 AM on Thursday through Saturday, because the neighbourhood supports late trade. Houston Galleria is a mall unit and closes at 7:00 PM on weekdays, because the Galleria does. Neither store is doing anything unusual for its type.
Beverly Hills is the odd one out on both counts. It is a street store on Rodeo Drive and it closes at 7:00 PM every day, opening at noon. That is the shortest trading day in the US network, on one of the most expensive retail streets in the country, which tells you the store is built around a different kind of visit than a Flushing or Brooklyn location is.
